the lens "clicking" into place is a good thing. it means in an impact, the lens would get jostled and end up looking some place else other than where it was set to look. also the capacitor vs battery is a huge issue if you are in a very hot or very cold climate as batteries will swell and get damaged in such temperatures. the HDR feature as you mentioned can be programmed for night only usage on the viofo which enhances overall image quality in the day without HDR.

While I'm not a big fan of the gray and white swoopy dash, I actually prefer having my break lights mounted high on the liftgate, seem like a major safety issue to me.

Youre correct about the android disconnect. Doesnt matter what type of phone. Random disconnect while in android auto, with with map on, while taking a turn is horrible.

Would a 256GB SD card be safer? I have a different model of this camera, same sensor but I don't remember the model number, and I rarely have an issue with overwrite. I do have a problem finding the correct video as there are quite a few to review, but I'm usually okay.

OK. Which mini cam with wifi and hdmi output would be best suited for a bird nesting box? This is something that I have been researching for ages and I'm getting nowhere. The kits are WAY too expensive and all the cheaper ones seem to have serious issues.

I am a bigger guy...6'2" (like 185cm for the rest of the world), and over 230 lbs (like 105kg). I have no issue with the size of the driver side seat. Actually, the center console fits pretty well as an arm rest, but given that my gorilla of a son sits up front, I would say it is narrow for two people like that.

On the ending “so which one is better” you highlighted A810 as having better audio vs the viofo, but it very clearly didn’t lol. The A810 sounded horrible lmao

A129plus hdr set for nighttime only

Yes I use the a129plus instead of the a129pro for the hdr.

60fps also means faster shutter speed at night. So higher ISO - higher noise - probably heavier denoising - less details. I just got this camera and I'm surprised there is no 25fps option (in a PAL country). This is quite annoying for me as i sometimes mix dashcam videos in my vacation videos... (which i shoot in 25fps)

what you are saying here are true. i bought a sandisk ultra 64GB as an upgrade for my dash cam replacing the 16GB what came with the camera. behold the errors flown everywhere to my disappointment. until i found out about transcend's high endurance variant then it works like a charm. now i know :)

Good review. AFAIK: The manufacturer is TOPTON & this model is called the "P8". I bought the earlier 7 inch version (the "L4"). Curious to learn more about the pen. Mine didn't have that option & my touchscreen is fighting every pen I try. Your model is advertised on Aliexpress as MPP supported but most early reviewers found they couldn't get it to work. They are funky lil' devices that are so inexpensive for being mostly metal etc, I can roll w/the faults. I've only changed my nvme but I plan to mod mine since we don't have a warranty/support to void, lol.

Nice review! It would have been helpful before I bought mine. Just a note that while this thing can run Linux, it will give a blank screen on boot (including booting installation media), closing the lid and opening it again fixes it, but you have to do it each time.

An observation about the Bolt's brake lights: Have anyone else noticed that Hyundai's and Kia's also have the brake lights in the bumpers? The Bolt is supposed to have been designed in Korea... maybe that's a reason the brake lights are the way they are... anyway, in SoCal Hyundais and Kias are very common and the brake light "thing" isn't as a big issue as elsewhere.

I have a 21 Chevy Spark. I considered a Bolt at the time but couldn't afford it. It has the same stupid "Piano Black" stuff on the dash and I hate it. Impossible to keep from getting dusty. It's a stupid idea and it needs to end. As for the Android Auto thing. Mine worked great for about six months and has never worked since. Not a huge deal for me as I just link the phone with bluetooth and use it for music on youtube or calls. But what is irritating is that the car will disconnect the phone almost every time I turn it off and I have to reconnect each time I start again. There are numerous complaints about this online from multiple GM products so I think it's a level of incompetence at GM with regards to phone integration. So much so that despite acutally liking the car, as a car, I'm considering switching brands altogether for my next vehicle.

And its worth saying, most importantly, that the camera that less likely to be stolen and but still get video evidence ,is the Blackvue Box series. Given the box is hidden and secured. Every other camera is at the mercy of a thief. And thats the point to push.

Then I also find it fascinating that only one company have figured out 30yr + CCTV technology would be useful in a car. Laughable.

Nice review. Imagine what a Viofo ,Mai, or Vantrue version of the Blackvue Box series would look like. You couldn't have said it better with, for the hardware to be separate from the cameras, the unit should be alot more better, HDR included.

why is the speed of the vehicle not being shown? It displays "- - -- km/h" in the lower left.

For elbow rest, you should be able to push the back end of the center council rest up , sliding the top head forward. At least that how it is with my 2020.

Great video! Very helpful insights from someone who has lived with the car for a while. I'm considering a Bolt EUV which has similar brake lights and I completely agree that they are not just incredibly idiotic but also dangerous. I might even not go for the Bolt EUV because of the increased chance of being rear ended. I guess it must have been slightly cheaper?? What is the price of monthly connectivity service for the Bolt EUV? Is it possible to do without it? If so, what functionalities would you lose?

Don't kid yourself. This is one ugly, cheap looking car. It's also very small in terms of length which would concern me in an accident. And then there's reliability which is not good from what I've read.

The previous software/firmware was SBC_V37-01.04.05 --- Can you help me please to unbrick this camera? What uploader for firmware should i use? Anyone the right brn? Pressing the buttons can reset something? How to replace firmware? Windows 10 don't recognise any actioncamera driver at all again. Jtag? Any help or sugestion and backup-file!?... Thanks!
